WE WILL HAVE REGULAR CLASSES MONDAY, FEB 15 and WILL not be performing at the nursing homes…since we have to cancel Mon the 8th…I will reschedule the performances for another time…

Dance Convention
This season, Dance Express held its first ever dance convention. Platinum Edge Dance Convention, directed by Kelly Daughtery and assisted by Sarah Roth came to Cuba and held a dance convention for ages 6-up.
The goal of Platinum Edge is to educate, inspire and push your dancers to the next level by giving them the latest trends in choreography, technical training and real world dance education. Their staff members are top notch performers, choreographers, and most importantly: Teachers.
Dancers studied various styles of dance from Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz and more. They led students through audition experiences. It was a one day convention…all day. Ages 6-11 attended the evening session. It was a huge hit. IT was great to bring a convention of this caliber to our area vs our students always having to travel to St Louis, Kansas City and afar to attend such events. They furthered their technique, terminology understanding and learned various floor work and routines. It was a very fun day! 2 Dancers received Scholarships from Platinum Edge to attend another convention based on their performance at the convention…congrats to Devan Brewer and Faith Birdsong! Dance Express Staff that attending the convention thus further educating themselves to help the students in our area: Miss Lisa, Mrs. Heather Case and Ms. Michelle Pearson.

LOCAL DANCERS QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS & Finish out the Competition Season with a BANG!!!!
Competitors from all across the United States attend the regional Dance & Acro competitions in St Louis. This year’s team has grown greatly and had their most amazing season yet. This team of dancers & tumblers performs for community events in Bourbon, Cuba and Steelville. They do a number of fundraisers to help fun their competition efforts. They have grown greatly as a team. This is the teams 5th and BEST competition season. Thank you to Cuba Free Press and all of its sponsors for their support. New this season is our Twinkles Competition Group!!!! And Great they were!!! They meet 1-2 times a week. This group is for the recreational dancer who would like to start competing, but on a much more relaxed level…fun opportunity to get out there on stage and see more of what dance can be about….they only come to their regular dance class….and sometimes an extra practice as needed Dec-March..no tryout required. We start them at age 5. |

Congratulations to all the dancers who competed. Dancers are from Cuba, Steelville, St James, Owensville, Bourbon and Leasburg. All the competitions were very tough. Studios who competed were from Missouri, Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and more. During this season, the dancers qualified to compete in the StarPower & Nexstar Nationals in Branson and the Showstoppers Nationals in July in Texas. Great Job on another successful Competition Season! So, Dance Express now offers Company & Twinkles Competition Dance Groups and we have also added an Acro competition team…if interested in doing any of these…let Lisa know!
